Great day spent recce'ing Roman's new route. 95% trails all day, some fast gravel, knotty single-track, and two or three sections of "just right" technical stuff. No pulleys or winches required, but you might skip those bits on a GSA! A few wrinkles to iron out, but Roman's done an excellent job.
Great perspective on the country too - better than just staring at trees all day.
Got new tyre too, thanks to extraordinary generosity of Roman.
Weather took a turn. Thunder, lightning, hail, and now it's raining while I hide in the tent.

No more technical than this (although you can't really see the bigger rocks or gradient here!) |
Most of trail like this |
It's a damned-sight easier with one of these! |
Yup, I'd rather be up here than down there. Toll free too. |
Think I'll live here then: thunder storm. |
I wasn't expecting snow. Well, hail, anyway. |
Still raining... |
Squint and you'll see a lightning strike from the thunder/hail storm in the top right corner. |
